Everything You Need to Know About LIS Low Income Subsidy and Extra Help

If you have limited income and resources , you may qualify for extra help.

This program helps pay for Medicare drug costs, some premiums, deductibles and coinsurance.

In 2025 if you have yearly income of less than single person yearly income of 23,475 and resources of less than 17,600 , or married with spouse yearly income less the 31,725 and resources less than 35,130.

Resources include money in checking or savings account, stocks , bonds, mutual fund and IRA accounts.

Do not include your home, car or burial plot or life insurance policies.

You automatically qualify for extra help if you have full Medicaid or get help to pay Part B Premiums or you get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

How to apply. Contact your State Medical Assistance office( MEDICAID office) or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227.
